Mardi Gras Casino Comedy Challenge Heating Up

The second annual Comedy Challenge at Mardi Gras Casino in Hollywood is less than one month away from crowning it's champion. There are now just 12 challengers remaining in the competition.

Currently, the competition is in the qualifying stage, where five comedians will perform on four different nights with the hopes of being chosen to move on to the final round. Gene Harding and John Wynn, winners of the last two comedy showdowns, have already qualified for the final round on Oct. 26.

This weekend will be the third round of the qualifying stage. Out of the five comedians performing on Friday, one will be chosen to open for Dennis Regan, Miami native and writer for King of Queens, on Saturday. The five comedians battling this Friday will be Tommy Torres, Danny Reyes, Theresa Carissimi, David Stebbins, and LA Hardy.

The 4th round of the qualifying stage will be on Oct. 19 with the winner opening for Angel Salazar on Oct. 20. The final round will feature all five of the qualifying comedians who will perform 10-minutes before headliner Pete Correale on Oct. 26. The winner of the 2012 Comedy Challenge will chosen on this night.
